its got no appeal to me , but its an undeniably much sought after ticket to which the 15 hour traffic jams to get in will attest

I had a great conversation with a customer yesterday. It was a really high pitched woman/man/thing (I don't even know which) and she/he/it wanted to pay over the phone for their son's car repairs. Which we don't do. It's against our company policy, anyway this is sort of what happened:
Customer. "Well, that's ridiculous. You...you can pay for the cinema over the phone."
Me: (thinking, we're not a cinema) "Well, it's our company policy not to take payment over the phone. We'll need someone to come down and pay."
Customer. "I work till 5!"
Me: (thinking, I work till 6, shut the f*ck up)
Customer: "I work till 5! And my son can't afford to pay for it!"
Me:(thinking, if your son gets a car he should pay his own bills) "Well unfortunately there's nothing I can do. We'll need to see someone in person to pay the bill."
Customer: "Well how do you suggest I pay!"
Me: "We take cash, cheque or -"
Customer: "YOU WANT ME TO PAY CASH! IT'S A £300 BILL!"
Me: "No, you asked me how you could pay and so I was giving you the payment options we take here. I said we can take cash or cheque, or card -"
Customer: "So you wont take credit card! I don't believe it!"
Me: (thinking, what the hell?!) "I just said we can take a card but you will need to come down in person."
Customer: "I take it you wont give us the car without us paying?"
Me: "Uh, no."
Customer: (long silence). "Right. Thanks. Goodbye!" Hangs up.
What is wrong with people? You can pay over the phone for the cinema? Okay! How is that related to this? the cinema costs under a £10, this bill is for hundreds.
And is it SO hard to accept you'll have to drag your arse down to the place? People are so arsey.
Strangely it made me laugh, whereas a while ago it would have pissed me off no end.
THE MORAL = PEOPLE ARE STUPID.

the transcript makes the phone answerer seem a bit surly i think the policy needs to change and who pays for the cinema over the phone ?

Surly AND disinterested, actually We have lots of policies, but when you get arseholes like that you're glad that you can say "Actually, no, I wouldn't like to make things easier for you. So stuff you!" I know! 'Oh, I think i'll pay for the cinema over the phone for I am dull and overly cautious'. (I shouldn't say that about myself)

its good to do well by certain people , bending policies slightly , then go by the rules for twats people who buy tickets for thecinema in advance are freaks of nature too

Well, that's exactly it. You always say things better than I do! If people are nice and slightly pathetic you feel like doing your best for them. Arseholes get nothing but scorn and derision. Which is great when you're confident in what you're talking about, such as payment policies Yeah, where's the excitement in that!
