This isn't nearly as good as Dino Buffy but...here it is..
Buffy stared at Giles, not wanting to go through with this. She then sighed. “So let me get this straight. I go through these trials, get some magical thing, bring it back to you and the world is saved?”
“Yes, that’s basically it.” Giles answered.
“And you can’t give me anymore information than that?” She asked.
“No, I’m sorry, but I can’t. That’s all the information I have as well about it. Now I suggest you get going as quickly as possible.” He replied and handed the slayer a small black cube with a red button on the top. “Press the button to go to the House of Trials and then when you finish, press it again to return here.”
Buffy looked the little button thing over a moment then nodded. “Alright. Here I go.” She nodded to him. “See ya.” She said before pressing the button. She closed her eyes as a white light engulfed her.
Only a few seconds later, Buffy opened her eyes and looked around. She seemed to be in a dark temple like place. “Fun...” She said quietly to herself then put the transportation device into her pocket. She took a few steps forward and noticed that there was nothing but a wall up ahead. “Well, this is helpful....”
Just then a booming voice spoke, as if it was on some sort of intercom or speakers or something, though she saw nothing of the sort around. “Trial One: Commence.”
“Okaaay...” Buffy tried to see where the voice came from, but before she could find a thing a growling sound was heard. “Not good.”
The growling got louder and was followed by the sound of stampeding feet. She looked all around her but saw nothing. Suddenly the stampeding came to a stop, as well as the growling.
“Where are you?” Buffy asked, not knowing if she wanted to know the answer or not. She was answered by something hitting the side of her leg. She looked down to see about 30 tiny demons. All small enough to step on. She rolled her eyes and began kicking at the things. They growled and a couple bit her leg while a few grabbed on and hung around as she kicked.
She shook her leg violently, trying to get them to fall off and two of them flew off, flying into the wall across from her with a disgusting “splat” sound. She slammed her foot down on a couple more, smashing them. They seemed to just disappear after she killed them. Which was weird, but not something to argue with.
One demon managed to crawl up her leg, her back, and into her hair where it was holding on with a death grip. She shook her head back and forth while stepping on some other mini-demons, but the thing just wouldn’t let go. She finally reached up and pulled it out of her hair and chucked it at the wall. She was lucky it didn’t pull half of her hair out with it.
Things went on like that until finally, all 30 of the tiny demons were gone. As soon as the last one was killed the booming voice spoke again. “Trial One: Complete.” With that there was a sound behind her and she looked back to see the wall that had been blocking her before, now had a door in the middle of it.
“Okay then. Door number one it is. Not that there were any other doors...” Buffy stated then placed her hand on the doorknob. She turned it then opened the door. Once she walked through she saw she was now in what appeared to be a boxing ring. The door was no longer behind her and she was standing up on the mat.
“Now what?” She asked, looking around. This was pretty weird so far. She took a seat on one of the stools in the corner of the ring and rested a moment. Those little demons could really take a lot out of a girl. Just as she thought about that, the booming voice returned. “Trial Two: Commence.” And with that there was the ding of a bell and Buffy stood.
A tall, very skinny, practically stick figure, vampire jumped into the ring. He wore a pair of bright red boxing gloves and seemed way too hyper.
Buffy walked towards the middle of the ring and the vampire began to jump around her, grinning. “Get me slayer. Get me. Come on. Hit me. Get me. Come on. Take me down slayer. Come on. Get me.”
He reminded her of a hyperactive dog. He was even sticking his tongue out for the panting effect. After about five minutes of him jumping around like that, she was getting annoyed. Okay, so she had been annoyed from the moment he stepped foot in the ring, but she was trying to be a good sport.
He stopped a moment in front of her and she just rolled her eyes and punched him right in the nose. He whimpered and staggered backwards clutching his wound. She thought she even saw him begin to cry.
She walked over and smashed the stool she had sat on before and grabbed one of the legs. She held it in her hand as she turned around, but the vampire was no longer there. “Hey, skinny, come out to play...”
“My pleasure slayer!” He replied, in a perky manner and jumped on her back from behind. Buffy spun around, trying to get him off her, but it wasn’t working. She sighed and ran backwards towards one of the corners of the ring, slamming him up against the pole. He yelped and let go of her and she quickly spun to face him and slammed the make-shift stake into his heart.
“Why’d you do it slayer?” He asked with tears in his eyes before he poofed.
“Well you told me to get you...” Buffy replied before hearing the satisfying “Trial Two: Complete.” The bell dinged again and then a black hole formed in the middle of the ring. She took a few steps back, then once it was done forming, stepped forwards. She looked down into it and there were stairs leading down to who knows where.
“I’m keeping the stake.” Buffy said, to no one. This being alone thing was making her talk to herself. She hardened her grip on the stake then stepped down onto the stairs. The only light was from the boxing ring she had just left and soon the hole closed up and it was pitch black.
She luckily made it to the bottom of the stairs without tripping and looked around to see...her living room? She raised an eyebrow and took in her surroundings. Yep. It was her living room alright, and the rest of her house as well.
“This is either another weird trial or I accidently hit the button to come home somehow.” Buffy said to herself. She shrugged and walked over to the sofa and sat down as she waited for something, anything to happen.
Then the lights went out.
“Trial Three: Commence.” The booming voice was heard once again.
“Oh fun.” The slayer stood up and started to slowly move her way away from the couch. She heard what sounded almost like voices upstairs right before the lights came back on. They were only on about a minute before they flickered and went off again. “Someone needs to call an electrician...”
She made her way to the stairs once more, but this time they didn’t go up into pitch darkness, they led to her upstairs, which was possibly better since she knew where she was going.
She got to the top of the stairs and now stood in the hallway. The doors to all the rooms at once slammed shut. “You think the other two trials were easy, slayer? Well you’ve met your match.”
“You think so?” Buffy asked, walking towards the room the voice seemed to come from. Her room. She grabbed the door knob and tired to push it open, but it wouldn’t budge. “Okay...let me in so I can kick your ass.” There was an evil laugh before the door seemed to be vacuumed open, sucking her inside. She hit the wall with a thud and fell to the floor.
“Ow.” She said, rubbing her head as she tried to spot whatever was doing this. A figure appeared, a rather large, demonic figure in the middle of the room. Her bed had seemed to mysteriously vanish.
“Oooh. Demon. I’m sooo scared.” Buffy rolled her eyes and stood up. She went to stake him but noticed she no longer had her stake in hand. “That’s not fair.” She pouted a moment before trying to punch the demon. Somehow her hand went through it like it wasn’t even there. It only laughed.
“Are you even going to do anything?” She asked and was answered with another laugh and the sound of doors slamming and windows closing. “Is that supposed to hurt me?”
She threw another punch and her hand went through again and this time it just disappeared completely. She looked around and didn’t see it anywhere in the room, well she hadn’t checked the closet.
Buffy began towards the closet and as she got closer it seemed to get colder. She stopped and leaned her ear up against the door and heard quiet laughter. She pulled back then quickly opened the door to see a small, oompa loompa looking guy sitting there. It just made her roll her eyes yet again.
“What is it with little guys always overcompensating?” She asked before grabbing him by his shirt collar and lifting him up. He made an “Eep!” sound before struggling to get away, his arms and legs flailing in the air. She almost laughed then turned around and threw him out the window, breaking it in the process. “Goodbye.” She looked back into the closet and saw a key lying on the floor. She picked it up and looked it over before seeing a door appear in the back of the closet.
“Trial Three: Complete.”
“Just how many of these things are there?” Buffy asked, hoping for an answer but got none. “Thought so...”
She stuck the key into the keyhole and turned it, unlocking the door. She then pushed the door open and walked inside. The door disappeared as most doors seemed to do in this place, and she was left in a cave with lava flowing freely under a long, not very wide bridge and on the other side was a treasure chest looking thing.
“I’d say this is the end.” She stated and looked at the bridge. It looked sturdy enough. She shrugged and stepped forward. Nothing was happening so that was a good sign. She took a couple more steps and then the bridge began to shake violently. She held on to the sides for dear life as she tried to make her ways across and not fall into the boiling lava pit below.
It seemed the whole cave was shaking as well. Rocks began to fall down and she had to avoid them while trying to get to the other side. One ended up knocking her on the head and she stopped a moment to regain her composure, which happened to be a bad move. The bridge began to fall down into the lava and she looked back to see it was quickly coming to her part of the bridge.
“Oh..shit...” Buffy sped up and broke into a run on the shaking bridge. She finally got to the other side and watched as the entire bridge fell down into the lava. She gave a sigh of relief and turned to the treasure chest, which wasn’t too big. She put it under her arm and began to reach into her pocket for the transportation thing when the piece of sturdy ground she was standing on proved to be not so sturdy.
It started to shake and pieces began to break off. There was no where for her to turn. She pulled the thing out of her pocket just in time for the piece she was standing to begin to fall. She was hurtling towards the lava when she quickly managed to push the button. White light engulfed her once again, just before she would have hit the molten rock.
She looked around as she hit the floor in her living room. Giles was looking down at her and asking if she was alright.
“Yes...I’m fine. Could’ve died...but fine.” She slowly got to her feet and handed him the chest. “Here.”
“Why thank you. I’d say you get an A.” Giles replied and began to walk off into the kitchen with the chest.
“What?” Buffy asked, following him.
“Oh, this was all a test of sorts. You passed.” He smiled at her and opened the chest pulling out a box of Shreddies.
“I did all of this for a grade and some cereal?” She crossed her arms, glaring at him.
“Well, I was hungry.” He stated.
Buffy just stared at him in disbelief before walking out of the room.
Giles shrugged. “What’s wrong with her?”
