I think if I watched that episode again I would die in seven days
(like in the ring!) 6 years of Buffy love then they give us that
and screw with our heads! oh JOSS YOU SUCK SOMETIMES!
Yeah, I was thinking astral projection, all the fans have their own theories, some think he was actually Sam Williams and that he made stuff up about 2006 because he was smart and had a great imagination (you could think of mobiles, ladies working in the workplace eventually etc) but then again he had up Robocop?
and you have people who say that it was all in Sam's head (if it was its terribly depressing) but then again if you think about the first episode I think it was, if it was all in his head, how could he think about little details like a bucket full of sand (why the hell would this woman in his imagination tell him about it? well you could say a part of him wanted her to say it because he wasn't satisified with his 2006 life, but all he ever wanted to do in that show was go back home.) and 1973? its random, I suppose you could say that he went back there in his "mind" because he was a little kid back then with his mum and dad and no worries, but thats when things started to go wrong, his dad left him and his mum was left alone to take care of him, and to be honest he didn't spend most of his time thinking about his mother and his dad, it was only really at the end of the first year/season he was in 1973 when he say his mother and thought "OMG my dad leeeffft
" and he had that memory of when he was a kid of a lady in a red dress getting attacked and he spent most of his time in 1973 solving crimes and having sexual tention with Gene Hunt, why would he dream about drunk Misogynistic and Racist coppers that he disagreed with most of the time and didn't think they way he did and why would he dream about murderers and rapists and what have you? he has to be effed up to dream all of that and again 1973 seemed so real, so much detail and he was a kid back then, I doubt that if I went back to the 90s, I would remember so much detail, I'd probably spend most of my time in the playground swapping pokemon cards and being friends with the spice girls.
They both seemed too real, if anything I'd say if one of them was fake it was 2006, because the Sam williams thing does make sense if he was infact Sam williams (him being a copper, everyone back then saying
"omg in the future we'll have robots as servents!" and he could think "how cool would it be to have robot cops
") but then again again, so much detail, it has to be real.
at the beginning of every episode we heard "am I mad? in a coma? or just back in time?"
I think it's all three
oh and another thing, if this isn't real I get that Ashes to Ashes wouldn't make sense (oh and with Ashes To Ashes, how the hell would the lady know what Gene and co looked like? and why dream she was in london, when she could easily dream about being in 1981 manchester.) But the scene where he goes back to 2007? It seemed a little fake to me :/ I mean as soon as he wakes up, frank morgan (who looks exactly like the frank morgan in the 1973 world, ok they could have used the same actors for the characters not thinking that the fans be as crazy as me and think theirs a connection.) tells him that his tumour is benign and that he'll be ok:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benign it says there that a small precentage of benign tumours can be threatening, You'd think the doctor would mention that to him, "you're ok, but they're might be complications in the future" no "YOU'RE OK, NOW EFF OFF HOME
" and wouldn't they have operated on him? you'd think his head would be shaved or at least a small patch, but he had a full head of hair and sideburns too!
oh and this could just mean that Morgan was a creepy so and so, but he gave him the creepiest knowing smile when Sam awoke, like "its up to you mate
decide what you want to do
like my moustache and head? I look exactly like I did in 1973 don't I?" and then he left? you'd think they'd that his mother would be there or aunt or even Maya would visit him, but he left alone and their were no Nurses or a doctor there to say "ok Mr Tyler, I've been looking after you for the past 2 years, see ya! call me! the names Annie Hunt by the way" he left alone :/ and the hospital was so quiet, I think that if they wanted to prove 1973 was real, they could have had random people in the hospital be from his dreams, like Annie and Chris could be nurses, Gene could be a Doctor (under investigation
) etc and then you could say because they met him all the time when was in his coma and talked to him they were in his 1973 world too, also you'd think that they would give him time off from work, considering what hes been through, I mean automatically thinking he was ok? this isn't the rule having 2007 police force that I know of and then you have the last scene, where he jumps off the building and suddenly goes back to 1973 and you hear noises from the radio, you'd think he wouldn't survive at all jumping off that building infact it wouldn't be a pretty sight, you could say those were paramedics voices, but it sounded like "Frank Morgan" to me :/ I think that this whole scene was in his head, and it was his way of dealing with 2007, and deciding to finally let go, then again Ashes to Ashes won't make sense if this scene is in his head, but it didn't feel real, I could suppose you could say it was from Sam's point of view (it was all so blue
) so everything was extra depressing and he didn't notice his mum was there with him leaving the hospital or that he had a bald head and that he was probably given time to recover but the time went so quickly that he only really remembered going back to work that day, but I'm taking it as I see it (Well not completly) but it just didn't seen "Real".
also about Point of views, you could say that it has to be in Sam's head because it was from Sams POV, ok it was most of the time, but you had scenes with flashbacks that Sam wasn't a part of (WHY WOULD SAM DREAM OF CHRIS HAVING A TASH DAMNIT?) and you had a scene in season 1 where Gene and Sam are at a indian restraunt and Sam heres something from the radio and you can see it by Gene's POV and hes like "wtf? Sam is off his rocker!"
So In conclusion I think they're both real, just not the last 2007 part, but I might change my mind after I see Ashes to Ashes
also........... REMEMBER Tony Crane? played by Marc Warren who was going to kill Sam in the future? that wasn't explained at all!!!!!!
I can't work out if the writers are geniuses or boobheads, so many holes of the loopy kind
