She's so sweet she seems like she doesn't have a bad bone in her body, I thought that he would scare her but she handled herself well, she bigged up Billie and Rose which was nice too (didn't mention David why would she ) he started playing with her doll and making it do splits (She was cringing ) and then put it in his pocket it was good.

yeah and the doctor would go around looking for her for the next few episodes (like in the sun article) and she'd come back at the end of the season with a rubic's cube and leg warmers on while looking like adam ant holding a kids hand who looks a bit like Gene hunt saying "Oi Doctor! you'll never guess where I've been!" that would be fantastic and the fandom would say "what just happened? " and us Ashes to Ashes fans (we're already fans, you can tell its going to be great ) will look smug and say "ask the kids dad " and their will be shipper wars over whos baby it is and if its the doctors, or how its probably Rose's and that evil Martha kidnapped him it'll be fan bloody tastic!

Keeley Hawes (Spooks) has beaten hundreds of hopefuls to don her leg warmers and play ambitious, psychological profiler, DI Alex Drake who, when finding herself stuck in 1981, takes on the infamous DCI Gene Hunt (Philip Glenister) in Ashes To Ashes, the eagerly-anticipated sequel to Life On Mars, it was announced today.



Alex has rapidly risen through the ranks of the Met in the modern world of 2008.



However, she is ripped from her current world of sexual equality and respect and finds herself faced with the boorish Gene in a two-tone, New Romantic, Eighties London with a soundtrack of Adam Ant, Roxy Music and The Human League ringing in her ears.



Today, Keeley said: "I'm thrilled to be playing Alex. She's a fantastic character and will be a force to be reckoned with as far as Gene Hunt is concerned; the two of them locking horns in the Eighties will certainly be a sight to behold, never mind the shoulder pads."



Jane Featherstone, Executive Producer for Kudos, said: "Keeley will be fantastic as Alex 'posh knickers' Drake. She is sexy, ballsy and very intelligent, exactly like Alex – she's bound to turn Gene's egocentric life upside down!"



Due to transmit on BBC One in 2008, Ashes To Ashes is written and created by Matthew Graham and Ashley Pharaoh, two creators of the award-winning Life On Mars.



With additional writing credits for Mark Greig (Life On Mars), Mick Ford (William And Mary) and Julie Rutterford (Life On Mars), it is produced by Kudos, in association with Monastic Productions, the new production company of Graham and Pharaoh.

these announcements are agonisingly great yet still agonising how far away are these majestic shows
she looks different in every pic theres one in a genesque coat that adds to the startling likeness

"shows?" is life on mars getting another spin off? (I'd be so happy if we got a spin off where Gene went to the future ) Ashes to ashes will probably air early next year.
I hope we get scenes where no one in the team recogizes her and she says "its me! the one you keep calling nancy!" "sam? " "NOOOOO ALEEEX! " and we have a hilarious scene where Gene thinks that hes standing infront of a mirror and says "your looking fine mr hunt " and Alex punches him

I thought that too but then I realized, no one can replace Gene even if they have the glenister big bone shape so I thought I'd say ray instead

didn't you know? why do you think I kept talking about Ray's future Perm! I thought I told you, everyones there except Sam and Annie they all look fantastic, and very 80s! apparently Dean Andrews who plays Ray is going to be in rollers so he gets his snazy new hair, what a bloody nancy Gene would give him an earfull if he saw him

Chris has fantastic trousers and Ray is very ray-ban...ey nice jacket ray and isn't Gene looking like a fox? I will miss the coat, but DAYAAAAM, he looks younger, and hes into the whole 80s fashion thing what a nancy, baaaagggy traaazers, baaaagyy traaazeers dun dun duuun.

and poor Alex drake that coat she looks very pimpin, but very early 80s too, poor girl

I suppose that girl in the background is the cockney version of Annie, its still unclear if shes going to appear in it, if its all in Alex's head, that probably means Alex is a Sam/Annie shipper and shes off with Sam, whatever Alex, you know his one true love is Gene!
