So, I went to see this today. Just to get this out of the way: I had this old geezer sitting next to me who was a REALLY heavy breather and it was very disconcerting. Anyway, Brokeback Mountain is great. It really is. If you're particularly squicked out by physicality (you know what I mean) both homosexual and heterosexual you probably won't like this film. Or should wait till its out on DVD and you can watch it privately to stop the blush. The story really focuses on the two male characters. Although Michelle Williams, Anne Hathaway and Linda Cardinelli (sp?) are all given ample screen time too. Williams is really great. She's got some acting chops, man. I actually found myself sympathising more with her than with Ennis and Jack. Heath Ledger also reaches a range in this film that I've never seen with him before and Gyllenhaal is predictably excellent. It is quite long and does drag on in parts but you never lose your interest in the characters or story. The film is neither predictable nor trying to put across any kind of "message" about gay relationships. Just because the two lead characters are male doesn't stop this from simply being a classic love story. And there's some boobies in there too. So all is well.

Fairly diverse, actually. There were quite a few teenage girls (myself included) and they'd dragged some boys with them too which surprised me.
Lot of middle-aged people and some older people too. There were a lot more men in the cinema than I thought there would be, since men get all "weird" about that kind of thing.
I think someone said it was "disgusting" at one point but then there's always someone like that (why they went to see it, I don't know).

You mean like a B plot? Like "Also...sheep rustlers steal the flock and Ennis and Jack must win back their beloved animals"? Nah.
It's about the two men but it's about their lives. Their seperate lives. They're not in scenes together for a lot of the time.

Well, Jude Law puts me off it. All of his films recently have been terrible.

And he cheated on my girl Sienna (not that I actually really like her that much but sister solidarity).
Also if I see Cold Mountain it will break my "I have not seen any Nicole Kidman films" deal.

More you say...hmm. I've heard Eyes Wide Shut is much the same. But Nicole isn't my type, sadly. BMX BANDITS!!! What a loss.
If only Kidman would star in a film I actually wanted to see. If she'd been in "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" I'd have been a big fan.
She coulda been in Brokeback Mountain. Then she'd have two Mountain films to her name.
