is anyone else watching it? I don't like sports, but I love the commonwealth games and the olympics I think its more of a support your country "*insert country here* pride" thing I am of course supporting scotland good luck to the other home countries, england seems to be doing well its currently second on the medal table after australia, Scotland is forth by gold and forth my rank. Scotland is bidding for the 2014 commonwealth games (oh god! I'll be 26! ) to be held in glasgow oh I hope they get to since teams seem to play better if its held in their country. my mum seems to be supporting Pakistan more than Scotland... whateva well I guess I would still support scotland if I moved to australia or somewhere like that (aka abroad) and she dared to call scotland a part of england (WHAAAT? oh no she didn't!) she said "everyone thinks thats scotland is part of england anyway..." SO? if someone said "george bush is smart!" would that mean he is? heres the medal table: www.melbourne2006.com.au/Schedule+and+Results/Medals

I think i'd like it if saw it had full stadiums and big name athletes , but its getting me to watch thats the problem the name just doesnt drag me in like 'the olympics ' or he World championships . ive heard a strong rumour that the Jamaican sprinter Asafah Powelll is going to smash the 100 metre world record in it its been said that hes been deliberately putting off doing it in small meetings to do it during the commonwealth games , id love to see that . Its good that the lesser minor nations like scotland get a chance to shine , is drunk fighting in the street an event ? My dad tried to pretend to support england in euro 96 as ireland werent there but When England were murdering Holland 4-0 he was at there with his head in his hands muttering ''oh god no ''

I don't think it is, but if it was, we would win the gold everytime, something to be proud of LOL parents eh?

haha, hooray for the british empire yeah it should be! we should be able to watch it when we want! instead we have to wake up early or stay awake all night! we're being oppressed I tell you! yes scotland would be very proud of their "athletes" (aka celtic and rangers fans ) for winning gold, silver and bronze and managing to beat all the other teams

I've been watching a lot of this due to my attempts to stay up all night. It's amazing how interesting sport gets when the hours are just dragging on.
There was an emotional win for an Aussie woman in the marathon as it was a tight race with someone from Trinidad I think it was, but it was the Aussie woman's last chance at reclaiming her title and she was 38 and she won! Oh and an English woman came third, and in the men's one an English man came third.
I've been seeing a lot of swimming this morning and Scotland and England are really dominating the pools. I think tomorrow's the finals...either that or I fell asleep during them.
I even watched speed biking...no what's it called? When they ride a bike around and around slanted track really fast...
I saw shotput and javelin and the other night I saw "Aerials" in some other sporting event which is this great skiing thing, it's amazing. I was awed. I also watched some snowboarding.
The other night I basically watched the whole men's gymnastic thing, it was very appealing to me. Australians came 1st and 2nd in a dramatic duel.
So yesterday I had great looking gymnasts and today I had gorgeous swimmers. Mmm.
Some of the people in the games are only like 13! HOW?!

When the tv channels used to close down late at night ice skating was often the last thing showing on the only remaining channel It sounds like its alot bigger than i thought , with lots more sports involved . is the bike thing 'pursuit' ? there was a scottish legend at that who built his futuristic bike out of a washing machine are the 13 year olds all gymnasts or other sports ? its funny when they show 16 year olds and talk of them being nearing retirement and being grizzled veterans

It's not pursuit. It's Speed racing or speed...something fast biking oh whatever.
No, the youngest boy gymast I saw was 16. The 13 year old was a swimmer, as was another 14 who got through the first heat! I failed to notice her after that though.

it smells like team sprint to me , or just sprint i think some nations just send people out to the games even if theyre not really athletes , its better to have someone there than no one , being the thinking , i saw a 14 year old girl runnning in the 10,000 metres in the olympics and she was about three times the size of the other athletes but she staggered roound somehow being lapped numerous times

In the women's marathon there was one woman from Australia and she was practically dying, during the last 400m she could barely pick her legs up. She just stepped over the line, stood there wavering and trying not to fall flat on her arse then some guy had to scoop her up into his arms and take her away.

gymnasts? yesterday? I think it was yesterday... or the day before, I loved watching it, they were all so young, but I found it fasinating... I wish I could bend and turn like that, I think Australia got gold.. don't they always?
last game I saw were boxing, england vs south africa, and Scotland vs Wales I think... both games got stopped in the middle, because the england and scotland boxers were too good and they were thrashing the other guys.
