These games are excellent. It's mostly just a typical shoot-em-up with impossible odds but it has dream sequences and some puzzle solving to break it up. Max Payne 1 - The basic plot is that Max Payne is a cop in L.A I think, and it's all grimy and wonderful. Anyway, some junkies kill his wife and baby. Which isn't so wonderful. He goes on a vigilante mission to bring those criminals to justice - as in shooting the crap out of them. He soon finds out that it the "junkies" may have been hired by a more sinister and powerful enemy. He goes around killing lots of people and working his way up to the top. The reason it's so good is that it's really dark and dank and it has comic book cut scenes where you read the dialogue and pieces in-between gameplay as if it were a comic. It reminds me of Sin City. Max Payne 2 - "I lied to myself that it was over. I was still alive, my loved ones were still dead. It wasn't over" Says it all, really. It turns out that the mystery from MP 1 goes even deeper than he though. Max comes into contact with a woman he thought was dead in the last game. You spend most of the game still trying to figure out the story from Max's perspective but you do play as Mona for a couple of levels. There's some romance too. The comic book style is still there and the graphics for the game overall are amazing. --- The best part of these games is the ability to play "bullet time" for a little while. This basically means that time goes slow mo as Max Lunges foward shooting or dodging bullets. You can actually see the bullets coming towards you as you try and leg it very slowly. After I played the first game I spent a criminially long amount of time imagining that I too could jump past doorways in slow-motion. And that's no joke.

Sounds very promising I read theres a film on the way possibly starring an actor from Deadwood , but dont worry its not Lovejoy I love the between level bits on games where the characters act out little scenes and get their next mission After playing Wolverines Revenge id walk around sneering ready to pounce on any enemies

Well, you should try jumping past doorways with an invisibly gun in your hands. Fun.
I also heard there's a film from some guy I know but I just assumed he was lying cos he often does. Glad it's not Lovejoy. I mean he seems nice and all but Max is young and buxom. hehe buxom.
I'm going to suggest James Marsters for the role. Hmm, I should be his agent.

Oooh yes.
If I was a hollywood bigwig (what the hell is a big wig???) anyway, I would hire James Marsters for everything and eventually people would be saying "bloody nora, when will he get OFF our screens?".
I'd have him be in Alias as Vaughn's long-lost-better-looking-brother who attempts to seduce Syd (and probably prevails), then he'd be on Doctor Who as a race of genetically engineered aliens who all look like James Marsters, then I'd cast him in X-Men as Gambit and then as Max Payne.
I wouldn't subject him to Eastenders though. Although, he could be Phil and Grant's slightly wiry, flamboyantly gay brother - throwing the Eastenders hard-men cliche into a spin.

I think the term is a reference to Donald Trump's earth shatteringly awful combover . I could picture him turning up in Alias with a Russian accent , maybe fake , or maybe real which would throw into doubt Vauhn's entire background . The Xmen dreams still possible , If they sack the current director and throw buckets of cash at Joss. He could play The Doctor even It would be great seeing him beat up Phil and Grant then taking over the Vic to show his top dog status and turning it into a thriving gay club,, ruining the business of the E20 leading to all manner of tediously overlong storylines

E20? Oh, how we long for those days. It's "Scarlet's" now.
I think him setting up a gay club would be great! I can see him now in his mesh shirt and leather trousers...hmm. Gayness.
Joss would probably hire DB just to spite me.
I'm was really looking forward to JM's appearence in Alias as Vaughn's Russian brother for a moment before the dream came crashing down around me.

Scarletts ? bah Steve Owen would reopen the E20 on the same day as The Queen's grand reopening , JM will call it 'The Queen' rather than 'The Vic ' I think JM's Shakespeare shenanigan at Whedon's house mean James is Joss's golden boy The dream can still happen , Alias has no fear of contradicting years of plot for an intriguing twist

I like that idea. "The Queen" has a nice ring to it. I can see Pat Butcher being a regular.
Well, who did Joss give a spin-off too? It wasn't dear old James.
Looking at the screenshots of Max Payne in the game, I have to say he looks nothing like JM. That's what plastic surgery is for though, right?

Thats libelous in the extreme ! He's a bit Christian Bale meets Bryan Ferry , If JM got the roll would you slag off the decision saying he's not like the character ? I want to see the Film , i want to play the game too , but ive yet to finish 'Starsky and Hutch' Wolverines Revenge or Batman Vengeance

It took my about a year to finish Max Payne one cos I was so crap at it. This guy I knew had it too so we were talking about it and he was all "oh how about the bit on the boat blah blah" I was like "I don't think we're talking about the same game" just turns out I was still on the first chapter and he was on chapter 4 already.
Max Payne 2 was much easier for me though.
It took my a while to complete Grim Fandango and Escape from Monkey Island too (damn monkey combat!). Two of the best adventure games ever.

The Wolverine game i have is split into chapters but thankfully they werent all five 'episodes ' long I'd excitedly told my mate about it whemn i got it , but when levels started taking a month i was less keen to bring it up with him Starsky and Hutch ( I got free with the dvd so i should have no complaints ) Its got a nice facility where you complete the objective of the level so you can move on through the game , but it doesnt let you go on too far unless you complete these tasks with high scores , but its still great fun being Starsky and Hutch I think Max Payne will be the next one i get , though i like the look of Constantine too
