Be warned, there are spoilers in this. So if you do not want to know about the movie before hand READ NO FURTHER!
Got back from seeing this about an hour ago. Let me warn you: It is LOUD. I almost went deaf. But enough about that. I thought it was a pretty great movie. The aliens were just...evil. I mean they did want to mass exterminate the human race, but birds seemed to be okay with them. Tom Cruise was very good in it, and the kids, well, they just annoyed me. Especially the little girl played by Dakota Fanning. She's in EVERYTHING.
It was amazing how the family managed to make it against all odds. Those giant alien controlled tripods were everywhere! I didn't completely understand the point of the red roots that were growing and were watered with human blood by the aliens..but...I guess that's just something you're supposed to figure out but I just happened not to : P
The fact that in the end the aliens ended up dying because of their lack of immunity to the microscopic organisms on Earth, there was some help from people like Cruise's character of course, makes you kinda proud of those disease carrying organisms! They're helpful in an invasion of Earth! : P
I don't think I'll say more until there are questions or a reply... But all in all a great movie. ;D I reccomend it!

I'll continue the spoilerifc theme I really enjoyed it , i had been very lukewarm towards the adverts id seen so i was pleasantly surprised . The red root things were there way of changing the landscape and temperature to suit themselves ( i saw that on tv today : P ) I loved that stuff abouthow the Aliens were wiped out by tiny diseases that we can cope with : P i loved how they were saying humans had earned the right to live on earth as a billion of us had died in the process of gaining immunity from earths diseases That was a great thing to have in that story , it reminded me of seeing documentaries about how The Native Americans suffered huge losses when Europeans turned up with flu . The son was an annnoying knob who should have stayed dead , it would have made it a better film , i didnt mind the girl up untill she ran to her mum with no thought for dadddio Cruise . My other gripe was that after theyd survived in the basement of the grandparents house , why didnt they just stay there , surely the Aliens had done all they were going to do in that town , theyd have been safe there with lots of derelict buildings for them to scavenge from : P

The staying in the grandparents basement is the exact same thing I was thinking! Instead of moving on to places the aliens just haven't gotten to yet, they should have stayed in places the aliens had LEFT. That would make more sense seeing as the aliens didn't seem to turn around and attack the places they had already finished. : P
The son, I thought he was dead then at the end when he came out of the house I was thinking that he surely should have been dead. But he wasn't and that was wrong. : P And you'd think the daughter would have a new respect for her father after he risked his life for her time and time again and he got her to her mother.
I felt that after Cruise used the granades in the giant tripod thing and destoryed it, that they should have been bowing down to him! "You are the ultimate warrior!" I mean, if it wasn't for him they'd all have died. : P

Spielberg and Cruise the dream filmaking duo ? Ernold Sameand Spuffy surely : P Theyd never have been found if theyd stayed there Iwas surprised the mother and family were alive too in a way , I liked the idea of Cruise going off to brood moodily after saving the kids and the world and still getting no credit . I loved that bit when he re-emerged from the Ship with the grenade keys unnattached to the grenades i loved how the alien ships were sort of alive and alien creatures themselves : P

Yes, I could see the kids happily with the mother then Cruise off in a destroyed building somewhere saying "And they STILL don't like me..."
I was wondering why, though, they didn't seem to care about anyone else that got pulled up into that thing. But when Cruis was being pulled up they were all "Grab on!! Pull!" and trying to save him. Luckily they did though or the movie would just revolve around the daughter until she either got killed or found a way to escape : P

I'd have enjoyed that , with him roming the empty streets and buildings in angry despair : P
I think maybe the main man who was yelling for them to grab Cruise was a soldier who saw the grenade idea . The daughter would no doubt have communicated with the Aliens and have persuaded thjem to go home : P

Of course they would have listened to the daughter. Perhaps they would have made her queen and then she would just take over Earth : P She could do a lot with the Aliens on her side, well until they died. Then she'd just be in a bunch of trouble. : P

I hate to say this but it was dissapointing to me I mean the fact that the father didn't help others was annoying to me and the aliens looked abit like the ones in Indapendents Day (did I spell that right?). I can say one good thing about it though the acting was very good.
