So, I went and saw this last night instead of Serenity, again
It's starring Cameron Diaz and Toni Collette (who did very well on the Jonathan Ross show) - they play two sisters who are polar opposites to one another.
Rose (Collette) is the frumpy, overweight, lawyer who has low self-esteem about her body and ever finding someone who will love her for her.
Maggie (Diaz) is the wild child, hoochie mama! (that what they call it in America, my sources tell me) who isn't an "academic" like her sister so she "uses her body as currency" (as Diaz kept saying over and over on Ross) basically she uses her feminine wiles to get money. Not in a prostitute way. Well, maybe once...
Anywho, the sisters are completely different to one another and often bitchy and spiteful to each other but they looooooove each other and are soulmates -
Maggie: "Like Sonny and Cher"
Rose: "They split up"
Maggie: "But they remained quite close"
However! One day after they've had a massive row Maggie has sex with the man who her sister likes and Rose happens to walk in on them doing it on her bed! So, Maggie get's chucked out.
She goes to live with her grandmother who she's only just found out exists.
From then on in the movie the two sisters come to some self-realisations when they are separated and each go in different directions then the audience might have thought of...
I wont ruin the end for you
Suffice to say, I quite liked this film but it probably resonates more if you have a sister or two
