So I'm muslim so I'm going to be fasting in a couple of days, because it'll be Ramadan, and JMF aka Carly is doing it too she isn't muslim but she said she likes a challenge So This thread will be our "survival diary" If You don't know what Ramadan its the ninth month of the islamic lunar calender and its a time for spiritual reflection, prayer, doing good deeds and spending time with family and friends. The fasting is intended to help teach Muslims self-discipline, self-restraint and generosity. (heh yes I copied that bit from a website) www.ramadan.co.uk/index1.php?page=others.htmwhats prohibited while Fasting? Eating, smoking, drinking and sexual relationships during the day(for married couples) are prohibited. During Ramadan, Muslims are also expected to refrain from indulging in violence, anger, envy, greed, lust and backbiting, and are meant to get along with each other better than normal. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RamadanBut the good thing is after we break our fast we can be greedy and violent! hooray!

I just looked it up so I no longer need an answer It's just I'm not educated on this stuff and normally when people talk about it they say it like they can NEVER eat. My mother and I were confused about that but I found out that you fast during the daylight hours. Ah, that's the key.

after the sun goes down you can eat, chew gum, drink and have sex and do other stuff But when the sun is up you can't. So as I said in the saybox, You should wake up a few hours before the sun rises so you can have breakfast and brush your teeth or you could just stuff your face before you go to bed. heres a timetable I found JMF, it tells you when You can eat etc. Maghrib is when you can eat, if you live in a area beside a mosque you'll hear the azaan (call for prayer) and imsak/fajr around that time is when you can't eat food, so before that you can, so you should just wake up at 4:20/4:30 so you can eat something or as i said before you can stuff your face before bedtime. here it is: www.ramadan.co.uk/index1.php?page=london.htm

You have different timetables for different parts of the uk, But you live near london so that Timetable should be ok, and even if its wrong I'm sure no one will punish you for eating 10 minutes early.
I'll have a hard time with not being able to listen to music till 6:30 or so, But you can listen to religious music during the day...... But I don't listen to religious music... hmm it would be nice if there was some islamic rock music out there.
