Due to the overwelhming turn out in the Ramadan thread, 2 people I thought I would start this... because JMF said she was learning how to driving too and we should do it together like a normal couple if you have already passed your test, come in and tell us about your learning stories and how you threw up on the driving tester person! was it hard? was it easy? how about that stupid high way code eh? with the man with the umbrella! who teached you? proffesional driving instructuers or your dads? well anyway this is a sort of driving group, where we talk about the fun stuff in driving! gears, reversing! ouu ouu! and try to learn the high way code etc so we can pass our tests and be personal chaffeurs to our mothers ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ok, I've had two lessons so far, I know how to start a car, break properly (my dad called it beautifull breaking *Sheds tear* touching) drive around a little bend, do the check thing you know seatbelt, neutral gear and all that, I know how to reverse, but my dad steers the stearing wheel for that. he thinks I should do the "breaking point" faster, my dad says once you start driving and get used to it you should know here it is automatically yeah whateva I'm a learner! let me do it slow! yes my dad is teaching me LOLOLOLOLOL I know and yes I cried... I know. although knowing my dad or rather me my third lesson might be in 3 months time or a year haha I'm hoping that more than one person is learning/or knows how to drive here or else this thread is a disaster! and I wrote all this for nothing! no noesss!

i am a triumphant driver phew i was always casual about it and not concerned till 2000 thats when i got my provisional license i stated lessons with bsm and got to a decent standard soon enough , and sailed through the theory test the first real test seemed like an utter disaster i was a nervous wreck but i only failed by one minor i thought 'thats scandalous that such a poor test was nearly a pass ' i sulked for about 6 months then booked another test i sailed through it , i was perfect as i pulled into the test centre i raised my hand to high five with the test lady in celebration at my flawless display and she told me i failed no minors but one major that f@@king lying old hag ! she invented some reason , im convinced she thought i was young and the experience of failing would be character building or something , it wasnt i sulked for another 6 months tests 3 was a complete disater , 4 was the worst and i knew that it was the last one i could do withing the two year period you have to pass before retaking the theory i failed it i then didnt bother at all for 2 years then booked the theory again , i sailed through 35/35 and so for test number 5 we got to the test centre and realised they did bay parking on the test i hadnt practiced that it was the first thing they made me do i learned at the end of the test that id failed before even leaving the terst centre test 6 it was the same tester froom the moment he said ''take me to your car '' i lost all feeling in my legs it was another nervous display and i flopped test 7 and a calming little asian man was in charge , i could tell he was willing me to pass and it really helped , id done everything quite well but faced the dreaded reverse round the corner it was a very nasty corner my lessons man had warned me about for years i took forever going at a snails pace as the buckets of sweat dripped from my nose and forehead but i did it when we pulled up i felt so sick , knowing that this felt like the closest id ever been he said id passsed wahey that was january im very good and safe and slow , but wanting it so desperately just put me on edge so much . good luck dudes

YOU SFHDASFH!!!11 THAT WAS FULL OF SMILIES!!!! you just did that to make us nervous and want to cry! you're lying aren't you? ohh noo it'll take me 100 driving tests to pass! and I'll have one of those mean people with no sence of humour telling me to go around roundabouts and ending up eating the piece of paper after the test saying "you're FAILED" in a muffled voice, oh no, oye vey ohh god! reversing! where do you move your steering wheel! left for right? right? ohh and the corners! and the ROUNDABOUTS! AND PARKING! OHH GOD! ohh and inbetween a small gap! ohh nooo! ohhhh ohhh was learning the highway code, the signs and rules and all that hard? Lynn from Eastenders passed on her 6th test, I think that was on loose women I don't know what show it was, but I remember that ohhh

my big mistake was taking time between tests , if you fail one , go home and book the next straightaway . i let it be a big nightmare following me round for years instead of ttackling it head on , keep going straight for it . when reversing move the steering wheel towards where you want the car to go , its the same as going forwards i didnt bother reading the highway code book , i learned all that stuff by getting stuck into a theory test book that has the official questions youll be asked , most of its simple 7th time lucky

I'd go back and try to learn how to do what I did wrong properly, or else I'd think about it then go and watch dvds and sleep but yeah, that's a good tip, booking another one, my mum knows how to drive, but she can't back up or something like that (I'll learn all these techinical terms soon enough! ) and she failed and never did it again! so I'll book another test when I fail mines ok, thanks, I was afraid I would end up going into a field and killing a cow! but I'm sure my dad would tell me how to do that anyway.. not killing a cow, reverse steering, I just learned how to do it last lesson and I think he was impressed or thinking about a tropical island but he looked happy! I've been reading the highway code online and it's all very complicated and scary, and my car will probably breakdown every week and the mechanics will steal all my money and laugh and say "she only needed to put petrol in it!" I'm thinking about getting one of those driving test cd-roms: theres a lot of good ones on amazon I do have a highway code book somehere, but it's from the 80s haha so not too good now 7 is your lucky number lucky number slevin har har!

treat it like a computer game repeat the level a billion times till you get it no breaks inbetween ! you can beat your mum to passing then offer youtr expert advice to her with the reversing dont be shy to go as slow as a snail , its easier to recover if anything looks like going wrong , and dont be shy to slam on the breaks too if disasters looming . youve got a connection with a reputable car firm so wont get ripped off my sister rates the cd rom theory test highly , i liked the book i think ive got lucky number slevin half downloaded somewhere

How much were your driving lessons? they seem really expensive, my mum tells me that after my dad has told me a few of the basics they'll send me to a driving instructer, I don't want to hear a "when you were young we paid 5 million pounds for your driving lessons now you work in mcdonalds! you're a disgrace!" in 40 years time yeah that's what I was thinking about doing, passing it and giving your mum advice, hehe She'll pass after her daughter! owned! but I don't think she wants to drive, I think she wants me to ber her chaffeur she was talking about driving to glasgow and london , me on a highway! never have you been on a highway? how is it? scary? what's the furthest you've been? heathrow airport? yeah I was kind of crappy at breaking at first, since I put my foot down on both the clutch and brake really fast and I stopped the car aka turned it off about 5 times a minute since I was scared but I know how to stop it without switching it off now I do go slowly though, since I'd probably crash into something if I went over 2 in the gas thingy (technical term.) I have do you work at a car firm? will you give me a a cheap car? yeah theres a driving test cd rom with high way code book for 12 pounds something on amazon I'm not sure if it's good though, since it's 3 in 1 but cheaper then other cd roms the reviews are good though.. all two of them If Jade Goody can pass then so can I! I think... I had potc 2 downloaded, well most of it, then it stopped 10 minutes before and I tried to play it and it wouldn't, 2 hours wasted for nothing!

they ended up being about £22 an hour id always do 2 hour ones , about one a week i think id have done it the opposite way , learned the basics wih the instructor then used dads car for practice and getting more and more comfortable my mum used to talk about learning when we were really young kids and even then i thought 'oh dear , shes far too accident prone ' she didnt bother . my mate told me a way i could drive to his town without using a motorway so i went using all the back roads that was too a place called harlow , which seemed far to me but i got lost on the way home and ended up on the motorway wow people were flying by at about 2000 mph i was trundling along nervously at 70 stalling is awful when theres angry traffic behind you no someone else here is on the inside of the car maintenance community when theres two reviews i suspect its the manufacterer themselves bloody downloads

did your wheeler dealer business pay for the lessons, 22 pounds an hour? 3 or 5 pounds would be resonable oh I'd do the same, I'd learn things from the instructer than practice on my dads car, but he's telling me a few of the basics and then I'll go around roundabouts and park with the instructer. MY old art teacher was a part time instructer! maybe I could track him down and do it with him! but that would be weird! he was hella cool though ohh god! I just thought about something, THE DREADED CONES! you can go really slow in the test if you want to right? they won't take off "points"? slow is best , my dad would go really fast and I would say "theirs speed cameras around dad! slow down! slow down!" I'd just stay in the back and let people go in front of me ohh yeah! HAHA JMF in the words of that guy from Goodness Gracious me I knewwww that! probably it is the bestselling one though! but only two reviews? hmmm they should mail us dvds for free

normal people were charged 22 an hour , i'd bring boxes of stuff id stolen from warehouses as payment yeah the roundabout stuff is a good thing to learn with the instructor, after i'd passed i didnt bother reverse parking for about two months its good to get on with the instructor he might actually want you to pass too i think mine was happy for me to continue paying him forever i never encountered cones you can go as slow as you neeed on manouvers but not while at a roundabout with people waiting bhind you after my mammoth struggle to get a licenese i'll never do anything to risk losing it they should let you take your test for free too

do you have your instructers number by any chance? I'd probably just drive in my area, too scared to go somewhere else. yeah he might, but if I know him he'll ask me questions because we're friends like "how are you doing with your education?" "I work in mcdonalds" "oh em... ok drive!" he'd be ok if I messed up though "it's ok, do it again, you were my favourite in the class " I know, I know" so that only happens in sitcoms like mr bean? when you're in a carpark and the driving test person makes you drive around a nuymber of cones? hooray! you've never had any points? yeah they should! that would be great

somewhere i dont think hed travel to scotland for a lesson though ive not gone far rarely above 3rd gear he might give ex student discounts i think the cones might be used by some instructors but not on tests no points thank god they take your licence altogether if you get a few in the first six months of having it hang on i might be passed that barrier now

I bet he hates the welsh too! typical east londoner! ohh ok, I bet you watch top gear and say "ohh yeah that's a beauty, ferrari, 5 inch alloy wheels, rap car boom thingy! ohh yeah! dat pimpin" hmm he might, 20 pound per lesson? your avin a laaf aint ya? if it's a 98% discount I'll be chuffed hmm ok! lets hope Aberdonian instructers don't do that! I'm scared about getting points, I think I'll get a lot so you can never drive again? can't you take the test again and get a licence or are you banned forever how many points are you allowed? happy 6 monthes driving anniversery to you! I have trouble with the gas, I went for a drive again, and sometimes my leg gets tired and I go too fast or too slow and my dad shouts "1 and a half! not 222 not 0! 1 and a halfff!!!!!" but I'm ok, I think.

they have places all over britain dahling! ohh really! I guess all the rumours about you and your crush on Richard Hammond are false then! I'll look for the best price search all over like that bald guy on bbc one who sells houses but also gets things for cheap for people like cars and tvs, the bbc wheeler dealer ohh no! I'll make sure I don't make any mistakes then 12 wow that's harsh! 24 would have been ok! you're welcome! yeah it's really hard to keep it at the same speed, not as in 10 miles and 60 but you know 10, 14 etc, I'll have to learn how to control it better
